The Pale Pacific

Erin seems to keep introducing me to good music. And apparently there is a lot of good music coming out of Bellingham (Late Tuesday, John Van Deusen ,The Pale Pacific).

I have been enjoying The Pale for the past few weeks now. I first heard Gabe alone (at “Round 2″ at the Q Cafe with Dana of Late Tuesday) and enjoyed his guitar, rhodes, and voice stylings (as well as his humerous banter). I still have not heard the band play live (was a day late for Woodsong) but look forward to their upcoming tour for the relase of their new CD (out August 23rd) Urgency (they hit Seattle on August 17th). They are a really nice group of guys and I hoep for the best for them! Stop by their site and check out their stuff.

And now for a few tunes off their third album gravity gets things done:
how to fit in (3.11MB):

here’s the mystery of fitting in, the drama of acceptance with the pretty girls and tough guys. it’s easy to see why i’m so stressed out. there’s forms to fill and fees to pay if you want to belong. there’s a right way to talk, hand shakes, smiles, and the inside jokes. i feel so left out when the punch line hits - it comes in so fast, and i’m so slow. i guess i don’t understand. i’m so confused. i guess i don’t understand. ’cause you come in so fast, and i’m so slow. i tell myself that with friends like you who needs friends at all. i’m fine with me and my ideas. but i still feel alone. they roll their eyes, i know just what that means. and it hangs in the air now over my head. it comes in so fast, and i’m so slow. i guess i don’t understand. i’m so confused. i guess i don’t understand. ’cause you come in so fast, and i’m so slow. and all i want is to belong. but do i want to fit in with you?

gravity gets things done (3.56MB)
wake-up call (3.79MB)

Enjoy!
Ή χάρις του κυρίου ημων Ίησου Χριστου μεθ’ υμων.

I like that song ‘Gravity Gets Things Done’. They have a very unique sound-sorta mellow and lyricly driven-reminds me of a more technical sounding Toad The Wet Sproket. Thanks for the links!

Hummm… well according to The Crocidle’s website and The Pale’s website, they aren’t going to be there. From The Pale’s site, it looks like they have shows at Western (today, 10/12)), Anacortes (10/13), Mount Vernon (10/31), and will eventually be at the Paradox in Seattle on November 16th. Although I just looked at another location and it says they will be at the Crocodile on October 23rd. So I have no idea whats going on with them!
