The Lonely Forest

The Lonely Forest is a band created out of the creativity of John Van Deusen (Vocals, Keys, Guitar) and supported by three wonderful musicians Braydn Krueger (drums), and Eric Sturgeon (Bass). John Van Deusen was another musician that my sister, Erin, introduced me to and I have been impressed with the tunes he has been putting out since he was 16. The creativity of this group is matched only by its talent. They have a broad range from slow, quiet pieces to hard piano driven rock. The chances are pretty good you will like their stuff. They all seem to be pretty down to earth guys and I think they can go far. I always look forward to their rockin’ shows and wish they had more CDs to listen to!

I now have a Lonely Forest Lyrics page! John has kindly provided all the lyrics to their God is Dead project (which includes all of the Regicide EP) as well as some of the new stuff from the Nuclear Winter project. Seriously. Lonely Forest Lyrics!

In an attempt to help promote the band, I have made a Lonely Forest Street Team blog to keep people update with news and show information. It is still in development stages and look the best in Firefox (naturally), so check it out for all the latest Lonely Forest news!

Since I have made a number of posts about the Forest, I decided to make this page with all the posts easily accessible for all the Forest fans!

[…] … so to speak. I am headed out to vacation! “Vacation from what?” you might ask. Well, I really don’t know. But what ever it is, I am taking a vacation from it. First I will be headed to Wild Waves to chaperone seniors from Meridian High School on their senior skip day. Basically that means I get free entrance in and then I get to play and go on rides. Fun times. Then I will be headed down south to hang with family until we drive out to the beach for a week! I hope the weather is good! So until I get back, enjoy some great music or check out my MattJonesBlog.com Archive for all of my amazingly intelligent posts. As I still have not fully tested this new design, feedback is still greatly appreciated! […]

      September 13th, 2006 at 12:14 am

[…] My second day of music had me visiting the Seattle Center and Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Arts and Music Festival. The reason? The Lonely Forest, one of my favorite bands. They were releasing their first official EP as the band (the first was a John Van Deusen solo, the second a transitional EP into the new band). I will be reviewing Regicide (a preview: it rocks) at a later date. This was a big show from them so I knew they would be putting on a great show. I was not disappointed. EMP’s Sky Church is a very cool venue and they really brought the house down. There were lots of people there who hadn’t heard them before and they all seemed to really get into it. The boys really know how to put a set list together. My only beef with all their latest shows: there is so much awesome music that is not available for meto listen to! At least the Regicide EP has fulfilled my need for more music for a while… but really, there is so much more that they need to get out (ummm… Tea of the Scientist, Coffee of the Priest anyone?). But I digress. Go see a Lonely Forest show as soon as you can (see their MySpace page for show listings). Go to their site and buy their available music (the first two are currently available and I think Regicide will be available to purchase soon). Please also check out my Lonely Forest page for additional images, music, and videos from your new favorite band! […]

links from Technoraticall to make the world a better place. There is the search for God and who He is. Lots of good things to think about. But really, we are left in anticipation. How can things be different for us? You should read the story, listen to the lyrics (they areherefor your convenience). What does it make you think about? Oh right, there is music too! What is a good story without some amazing music to carry it along? Like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I was a little worried about how things would
