Lethargic

The end of last week and the beginning of this week has brought with it a case of lethargy. I just haven’t been motivated to do anything. This might night be a huge issue except that I preach on Thursday for class and have two papers due next week but won’t be around at all this weekend and Jae will be over next week to check out Regent. All of a sudden two classes seem like a lot! I am not really sure why I feel so lethargic, might just be some mid term blues, might be that it is Valentine’s day (although I am not really worried about that), might be that my laptop crashed this weekend and all but my “Regent stuff” backups work - yes, as of right now, most of the work in my four terms at Regent have been lost. Sucky. So prayer that I would snap out of this and also for preaching on Thursday would be greatly appreciated. It is beautiful out today so I might go read in a park… that may help. Thank God that He alone is sufficient!

Cheers,
-Matt Jones

You’re in my prayers Matt. I have a case of Lathargia going on here too. My problem is I’m so busy that I don’t really have time for myself/God. NG! I’m almost to the point where I want to say “I don’t care anymore!” and just stop all that I’m doing. Though I know God is telling me not to… Haha, ain’t life grand? :)

    Hey Matt,

One tip I can share with you about backing up assignments. Each time you completed one paper, send yourself an email. That will mean having 2 separate email accounts, for example from your gmail account to your hotmail/yahoo account.

For lethargy, I identify greatly, as my body is aching all over. I think it is frozen by the cold winter. Hopefully some snow over the next few weeks will whiten things up! Praying for you for your preaching.

Thanks both of you. God’s blessings are abundant and I just need to live in that space.

That is a good suggestion Conrade, often times I save my papers to my webserver so that helps. And I thought having a backup on CD would be good enough, but apparently not!

    Hey Matt,

If you want me to take a crack at your harddrive I can hook it up to my laptop. I’m the computer TA for the term at Regent. My office hours are M & W 2-3PM.

Thanks Cam! It is actually a CD that I cannot recover, but I might stop by to try it out.

I use a thumb drive (aka USB drive, keychain drive) these days for my primary storage device. I frequently (daily) go between my home and work computers, and each time I backup the thumb drive to the harddrive (or network) at that location.

As for being down in the dumps, see if you can get outside and breathe some fresh air and maybe get a little bit of sunlight, like going for a hike or a jog or something. I’ve been wanting to take my own advice, but when we had the gorgeous snowstorm last week I was sick, and now it’s nasty wind out.

Quite good advice zandperl, luckilly I was able to get outside, also visited family for the three day weekend which helped out a lot and I have had a friend visiting. All have helped me get out of the dumps. It is definitely much harder to get out when you feel crappy and the weather is just as bad. Although sometimes there is something to be said for just going out and playing in the rain or snow and just having fun ragardless of the consequences. ;)
