Three More Shows and Prayer Requests

I will start with the fun stuff. There are three more shows in Seattle that you should plan on coming to this coming weekend.

Friday, Sept 1: Late Tuesday (MySpace) has their Seattle CD release show at the Triple Door. $12, All ages, doors at 6 (you can order food and stuff), show at 8. This will be a great show at an awesome venue. I recommend buying tickets early (you can also get directions as well) here.

Saturday, Sept 2: The Lonely Forest (MySpace) will be performing at Bumbershoot at 12:00 noon at EMP’s Sky Church. Hopefully you will be going to Bumbershoot and this can be your first stop. If you hadn’t planned on it, you should still come. The only drawback is that it is $30 (you can buy tickets here). The show will still be well worth it as I know they will rock the house down (and will be releasing their new EP).

Saturday, Sept 2: Last, but not least, Katie Jacobson, jazz pianist and singer will be performing at Hot Wire Coffee in shoreline at 8:00pm. I don’t think there is a cost but I imagine she will be playing for tips. (Map here)

All three shows will be great and I hope you will be there. Let me know if you have any questions about any of them!

Also, I have some prayer requests for those that are so inclined to pray… even if you aren’t, maybe you should!

My family has known the Van Dragt family for many years. I went to school with Erin and my sister Erin went to school with Jonathan. We were both Gig Harbor families that spent many years at Skyline Presbyterian Church. Very sadly, plagued with being bi-polar, Jonathan took his life recently. I met up with my mom and sister for the memorial service today in Tacoma. It was a wonderful service that included a impossibly eloquent reflection on Jonathan and his life and gifts given by his father Bryan. Please pray that God will be seen by his family and friends and the community at large. Jonathan was a very giving and kind person and I also pray that people would learn from his mistakes as well as his gifts.

My step-dad’s father had a stroke last week. His mother needs to have her leg removed due to poor circulation (the first was already removed). They are going to have to move down to southern Washington to be closer to my parents. This will be a difficult time because my parents are also planning a move in the near future. There are lots of complications, you get the idea though. Prayer would be greatly appreciated. And as if they wasn’t enough for Bob (my step-dad) to deal with…

… my step-sister is dealing with alcoholism. This is a touchy subject and I don’t want to get too detailed here. There is a long history of struggles for her and we thought it was getting better… Apparently not though. Last week she blew over a .5 BAC (and that isn’t a typo, and don’t worry, she wasn’t driving). Prayer is greatly needed and appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

Unfortunately I know personally what suicide and alcoholism can do to a family and close friends, so I will pray. But be encouraged, God is bigger..

Thanks, Matt, for your kind words about Jonathan. And thanks to those who are praying as we, his family, try to heal. We feel the support of your prayers as we face each new day and each new stage of grieving.
Jon was, indeed, a gifted young man. We miss him terribly, but we rest in the firm knowledge that he is whole at last.

I will help people who are suffering. This is the motive that I need plenty more belief, plenty more power of prayer and more Holy Ghost with me. Please pray also that God gives me gifts of God’s grace.
